History and future

Our company was founded in Amersfoort in 1938 by Willem Ruitenberg and the business primarily involved the keen trading of starches. To serve the customers better the company started a blending operation in the sixties. By that time the product range was already extended with liquorice root products, proteins and binding agents. In 1967 the second generation, in person of Cees Ruitenberg, became responsible for the company. He distinguishes the importance of having own research en development facilities and invested in a new laboratory in 1973. In the seventies, eighties and nineties the product portfolio of the company grew to a complete range for the entire food industry. Besides powdered ingredients the company extended the product range with liquid products like liquorice and liquid smoke.
 
Since 1997 the responsibility of the company has been handed over the current management. Because of the strong growth after the millennium the company outgrew her facilities in Amersfoort and moved in 2003 its head office and technology centre to Twello. Since the last five years the company has focussed her business to a selected group of ingredients and applications. The product portfolio can be described as versatile with focus.
 
During the last few years Ruitenberg has shown double digit growth figures. This is the result of the strategy of Ruitenberg to focus on a selective group of ingredient concepts and applications. The business of Ruitenberg has become very international in the last 5 years. The percentage of export has increased from 10% to 50% since then. Currently Ruitenberg is exporting to more then 25 countries. For the coming years we expect to continue the growth we have shown the last few years. This will lead to additional investments in production facilities, warehouses and sales offices.
